Borough Sports.

On Wednesday 22nd June Belmont took part in the annual Borough Sports at Bannisters Stadium. 26 Year 5’s and 6’s went to represent Belmont against over 25 other schools from the Borough. While there children took part in a variety of Field and Track sports including; Middle distance running, Sprinting, Shot Put, Vortex Howler, Long Jump and 4x100m relay. We had many successes with most children making it through to the finals or coming within the top 20 competitors from the Borough. Through this achievement alone they have made us all very proud. Although it rained most of the day this didn’t stop us coming away with 4 medals: 1 Bronze, 2 Silver and a Gold (some results are still pending). The morning started off well with Kierra-Ashai Joseph running a very tactical 800m and coming away with a silver medal for coming in 2nd. The next event was the Year 5 boys 600m Finals with 2 entries from Belmont, Qasim Kazmi and Jvonne Morgan-Burgher. Both boys ran excellently with Qasim coming in 4th and Jvonne winning the second medal of the day for his 2nd place finish! The next medal was won by Year 5 pupil Samia Egeh for a brilliant throw in the Vortex Howler. The last medal of the day was won by Septimui Fanea for his Long Jump in the Year 5/6 pool. We are still waiting for a couple more results so we hope to add to the successes. All children did an exceptional job representing Belmont in their chosen discipline and showed admirable sportsmanship. I would like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate them on their performances. I would also like to thank all the teaching staff and parents who helped on the day to make it so successful and enjoyable for the children. Miss Banyard
