Global Goal 4 – Quality Education - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Dear Families,

What a pleasure it is to write the first newsletter for this academic year! A warm welcome to all of our families, new and old.

We have had such an amazing transition into the new year groups, especially children who have started in Nursery and Reception. Your children look so happy to be back in school learning and thriving. We look forward to a great year of deep learning, great progress and character development!

At Belmont, we are always looking at how we can demonstrate the amazing progress and learning that takes place in our wonderful school. I would like to extend a huge congratulation to the following members of staff for gaining the specific awards for the school:

  • Miss Spencer-Pell for helping the school gain the Silver Primary Geography Quality Mark:

  • Mrs Olivier for helping the school gain the Primary Science GILT Quality Mark:

  • Finally, Mr Simpson and Mr Baig for helping the school to be reacredited as a 'Microsoft Showcase School':

Thank you all for your time and effort to enable Belmont School to have an ambitious curriculum for the children!

Trips

This term we have already had our Young Ambassadors for Peace visiting the Global Co-operation House to meet with Sister Jayanti, Additional Administrative Head of the Brahma Kumaris, who joined us and other schools for the day when she shared her inspirations and powerful thoughts on the theme of peace. Our 'YAPs' (Young Ambassadors for Peace) were inspired by the visit and have some wonderful ideas about how we can spread more peace across the school community.

We also had some Year 6 Pupils who represented Belmont School in the First Lego League Competition UK Challenge competition at Legoland Windsor Resort. The pupils took part in a Coding/STEM workshop and enjoyed taking part in experiences around the resort:

Sustainability Pledge - 'YESfest Trip to Eden Project Cornwall'

Last week 6 pupils attended the Eden Project to take part in the very first 'YES FEST' at the 'Eden Project':

Pupils took part in various activities linked to sustainability and have created an action plan to strengthen our existing sustainability plans. Do watch this space.

Space dress up day - Friday 11th October

We are excited about announcing a special dress-up day to celebrate Space Week on Friday, 11th October! This is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to explore their creativity and express their interest in the universe.

Pupils can dress up as their favourite space-themed character, whether it be an astronaut, a planet, an alien, or any other celestial inspiration. We believe this event will not only be enjoyable but also ignite curiosity about space exploration and science.

Please ensure that costumes are appropriate for school and allow pupils to participate comfortably in their regular activities.

Thank you for your support in making this event a memorable one. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.

Assembly

The Year 6 pupils kicked off this year with three fantastic assemblies! Thank you to the staff, pupils and parents for your continued support and dedication to developing children's performance skills and confidence.

Bringing Unhealthy Snacks into school

Recently we have seen an increase in families bringing in unhealthy snacks to school at the end of the day and part of after-school snacks.

We do not allow snacks on school sites as they may contain allergens that are harmful to members of our school community. Therefore, we are requesting no unhealthy snacks such as juice, crisps, biscuits and sweet treats be brought onto the school site. If seen, the staff will ask you to put it in the bin, or for you to take it home. So please do not bring these items on site.

Outstandingly Happy Harrow School!

Children in Year 5 would like to share the following quote with you:

Do not forget that as a school we are all working in the 2% Mindset mode:

Online Learning Expectations and Support

We continue to set online weekly home learning online via 'Microsoft My Teams'. Staff will review what has been completed and leave feedback on the pupil’s page.

We are digitising the way the school operates, this means you will have access to all of the pupils daily learning so that pupils can review what they have learnt during the school day at home.

Please focus on reading with your child every day for at least 20 minutes, help them to learn their times tables and spellings and talk to them about their learning in school.

If you need help or support with online home learning, Mr Baig, our Computing Technician will be available to support you every morning from 8.30am to 9am. You will need to complete the following form to let us know what you need help with:
