Global Goal 4 – Quality Education - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Dear Families,

Welcome back to the second half of the Spring Term. We have so many exciting learning opportunities this half-term! Unfortunately, we had to cancel the 'Family OPAL Stay and Play' session due to the weather. We have rescheduled this for Wednesday 26th March. We hope you can make it and would love to see as many families attend!

We had a wonderful turnout for the Key Stage 1 Maths Morning sessions and the first SEND Parent support session and would like to thank you for continuous support in keeping us 'Stronger Together'.

We would like to introduce you to Ms. Leonard, who started this week in the new role of Family Liaison Officer;

"Hello Belmont Families!

I’d like to introduce myself as the Family Liaison Officer (FLO) for Belmont School. My name is Ms. Leonard, and I am so excited to be joining this wonderful school community.

With over four years’ experience in children’s safeguarding and two years as a classroom teaching assistant, I understand the challenges families can face and how important it is for children to feel happy, safe, and supported at school. My role is all about working closely with families, parents, carers, and pupils to ensure that every child has the best chance of succeeding, both academically and emotionally.

I understand that reaching out for support can sometimes feel overwhelming, but please know that my role is here to help, not to judge. Whether you have a question, a concern, or just want to chat, I’m here to listen.

I look forward to getting to know you all and working together to make sure Belmont remains a happy and supportive place for every child. If you see me around, please feel free to say hello."

World Book Day - Non-Uniform Day - Thursday 6th March

A reminder that an email was sent out before half-term to let you know that next week we will be celebrating book week next week. We love reading at Belmont, and we want to encourage families to continue to read for pleasure at home.

To mark the occasion, we would love for children to come into school on Thursday 6th March dressed up as their favourite book characters. You do not need to buy a costume, anything handmade is great for sustainability. We will be handing out some really special books that have been signed by a well-known author, which we need to keep a secret till next week! So please check the email for more on what activities will be taking place and ideas for dressing up.

Sustainability at Belmont School

Thank you to all the families who have invested in a reusable sustainable bottle. We have many questions about which bottles you should provide. Please make sure they are not made of glass, they are not expensive bottles as they may get damaged or lost, 'Air Up' bottles are not allowed in school and the bottles must contain only water:

UNCRC - Rights of a child

As part of our British Values, we learn and celebrate 'Respect and Tolerance', understanding that we do not all share the same beliefs and values. Respecting the values, ideas and beliefs of others whilst not imposing our own onto others.

So, this week, the RRS Ambassadors would like to share 'Article 14':

Article 14 of the UNCRC says that children and young people are free to be of any or no religion. Their parents can help them make decisions around religion. Children and young people shouldn’t be discriminated against because of their religion. They should be treated the same as everyone else, no matter what they believe.

Article 14 also covers the right to freedom of thought. It is the right of a person to have their own ideas, thoughts, opinions and beliefs― and for nobody to be able to stop them from holding them. A person has the right to keep their beliefs private, and shouldn’t be forced to reveal them.

We are a Fit4Life Charter School

Every newsletter we will be sharing 'Family Pledges'. In this newsletter, we would love for you not bring in unhealthy snacks at the end of the school day, as mentioned in previous newsletters:

The NHS websites: https://www.nhs.uk/healthier-families/food-facts/healthier-snacks/ and https://www.nhs.uk/healthier-families/recipes/dinner/, have some fantastic ideas for snacks and meal-time adventures.

We would love to hear what lovely meals are being eaten at home!

Outstandingly Happy Harrow School!

Do not forget that as a school we are all working in the 2% Mindset mode:

Communication

A reminder to all families: If you have any issues or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to any member of staff on duty or email the school office via office@belmont.harrow.sch.uk or by submitting your query on our virtual form found on our website (https://www.belmont.harrow.sch.uk/contact-us-form). We are digitising the way the school operates, this means you will have access to all of the pupils daily learning so that pupils can review what they have learnt during the school day at home.
