Global Goal 4 – Quality Education - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Dear Families,
Welcome back to our final half-term this year and I hope you all had a lovely break and managed some rest and time with family and friends.
We have a very busy half-term ahead with lots of dates for your diary. We always send out weekly reminders of when the events will take place, so please make sure you check the 'What's on'.
Key Stage 1 Phonics Screening
Phonics Screening Week will take place from Monday 6th to Friday 13th of June for pupils in Year 1 and for some pupils in Year 2. Therefore, it is extremely important that your child attends school every day and arrives on time. This will assist us further to identify and address any gaps in your child’s learning. Please also remember that a good breakfast is always an essential meal for children before school, but in particular when they are sitting tests. Research has shown that children who eat a healthy breakfast have improved alertness, concentration, mental performance, mood and memory.
Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check
Year 4 pupils will be taking their Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) at school this month. The MTC is a Key Stage 2 assessment to be taken by pupils at the end of Year 4 in June. It is an online test where children are asked 25 questions on times tables from 2 to 12. For every question, pupils will have 6 seconds to answer, and in between the questions, there is a 3-second rest. Questions about the 6, 7, 8, 9, and 12 times tables come up more often. The questions are generated randomly based on the rules of the MTC. The purpose of the MTC is to ensure pupils’ times tables knowledge is at the expected level. Parents, guardians and carers are being asked to ensure that the children practise on Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) which will be of great benefit in preparing them for the Multiplication Tables Check. We suggest practicing 10 to 15 minutes a day for optimal results. Good luck!
