Global Goal 4 – Quality Education - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Dear Families,

This half term seems to have gone like a blink of an eye! It has been wonderful to see how our Nursery and Reception pupils have settled into their new routines!

We have had a wonderful week of Parent/Teacher meetings and it is clear that pupils have made great progress so far and the home learning produced is of exceptional quality! Thank you to all parents and families for your on going support.

Over the last two months, we have seen some amazing class assemblies from Year 5 and 6, OPAL stay and Play was well attended, we have had the Author, David Fuller, come and visit the Key Stage 2 pupils, we have had a very successful Book Fair. We have also celebrated diversity and inclusivity, wellbeing and the festival of light with some amazing dress-up days.

Daylight Savings Time Change

Another reminder that daylight savings ends when the clocks go back one hour from 2am to 1am this Sunday, so please do not forget to change your clocks!

Healthy Schools

As a Gold Healthy School, the Junior Health Ambassadors would like to remind our families that we are part of the The Fit4Life Harrow project.

This was formed 3 years ago in response to the figures from the National Child Measurement Programme which showed that pupils in Harrow were, and still are, fairing badly health wise compared to other Boroughs in London.

A charter has been produced in conjunction with the London Borough of Harrow, the Public Health team and Harrow Education Partnership. This charter is a commitment from ALL Harrow schools to improve the health outcomes of its pupils.

As a parent of a Harrow pupil, it is expected that you uphold your section of this charter by pledging to:

  • Reduce the amount of sugary foods and drinks
  • Provide healthy snacks at the end of the school day
  • Exercise with children outside of school for at least 30 minutes a day – this could be as simple as a walk
  • Sign-up and regularly attend an NHS Dentist and ensure your child brushes their teeth at least twice a day.
  • Ensure your children are up-to-date with vaccinations
  • Talk to your children each day about how they are feeling and how their day went.

Health and Fitness must be a priority to help improve your children’s life chances.

We have seen an increase of families bringing unhealthy snacks afterschool. If you need to bring your child a snack, please make sure it is healthy:

Outstandingly Happy Harrow School!

Belmont pupils and staff are always looking to live outside their zone of comfort and, as part of this, we would like to share the following quote with you:

worldhelloday | Art of Brilliance

Do not forget that as a school we are all working in the 2% Mindset mode:

We would like to wish a Happy Diwali to all of families who are celebrating!

We hope you have a restful half term break and we look forward to seeing you all back to school on Tuesday 4th November at 8.35am in full school uniform!

Best wishes,

Mrs P Aggarwall

Reading support

Many families ask for extra learning. The best activity is being outside for daily physical exercise and reading to exercise the brain!

Below explains the importance of why reading for 20 minutes minimum has on your child's outcomes:

Do not forget to log your child's reading on our Reading Log App and to take pictures of them reading in the sun!

Communication

Please review the 'What's On' list, as well as the home learning and curriculum overviews that will include information on what your child will learn this term.

A reminder to all families: If you have any issues or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to any member of staff on duty or email the school office via office@belmont.harrow.sch.uk or by submitting your query on our virtual form found on our website (https://www.belmont.harrow.sch.uk/contact-us-form). We aim to respond to queries within 10 working days as outlined in our Positive Communication Policy, which can be found in the policy section on our website, where you will also find:

We are digitising the way the school operates. This means you will have access to your child's daily learning to review what they have learnt during the school day from home.

Please focus on reading with your child every day for at least 20 minutes, help them to learn their times tables and spellings and talk to them about their learning in school.
